Year 1 - The End Sound ck

The End Sound ck helps KS1 children learn spellings that end in ‘ck’. The spelling rule is outlined in the National Curriculum and states that Year 1 children should know when to add this digraph.

If a word ends in a ‘k’ sound, it is most likely going to end with a ‘ck’. Normally, if the vowel sound before it is short, like an ‘eh’ sound, the next letters will be ‘ck’. Test your knowledge on these spellings.
