Vocabulary - A Smorgasbord of Words! (Part 3)

This Spanish Medium Review quiz will once again challenge you on being able to quickly draw upon your Spanish vocabulary bank of words. In fact, this quiz is the third of four smorgasbord of words quizzes that you were introduced to in the Spanish Medium Review quizzes titled Vocabulary: A Smorgasbord of Words! (Part 1) and Vocabulary: A Smorgasbord of Words! (Part 2). Each of these quizzes has been designed to challenge you to have to think and then draw upon all of the Spanish you have learned to date.

The quiz questions and/or sentences found below can be about anything, including vocabulary, translating sentences, science, even doing math. Because it is a smorgasbord, you can expect anything.     To find the correct answer you must know the verb’s conjugated endings. Each of these is the present tense form of the verb. The second answer means you (plural formal)/they died in the past tense. Therefore, it is not the present tense form.
  3. Danny wants to keep the SQUIRREL.
    The first answer means bumblebee. The second answer means grasshopper. The last answer means worm and the third answer means squirrel.
  4. Margaret lives in a loft.
    To find the correct translation to this sentence you must know the Spanish word for loft. That word is desván. That means that the correct translation is: Margaret vive en un desván.
  5. Which of the following is not a musical instrument?
    The first answer means French horn. The second answer means tambourine. The third answer means keyboard and the last answer means rabbit. Clearly the last answer is not a musical instrument.
  6. It seemed like the word day when by in a FLASH.
    The first answer means dusk. The second answer means eon. The third answer means millisecond and the last answer means flash.
  7. Which of the following is the Spanish written form for the number 207?
    The proper written translation for the number 207 in Spanish is doscientos siete. There is no 'y' used.
  8. When you have a group of people and you do not know if they are all boys, or girls or a combination of both, what is the general rule to follow?
    When you have a group of people and you do not know if they are all boys, all girls or a combination of both you always use the masculine form of the word.
  9. Valentine’s Day occurs during this season.
    Valentine’s Day occurs on the 14th day of February. February is a winter month. The Spanish word for winter is invierno.
  10. This is the study of humans both past and present.
    The study of humans both past and present is known as anthropology. The Spanish word for anthropology is antropología.
